The beginning Simac was founded on October 1st by M.J. van Schagen. After a career at Philips he had the courage to start his own company at the age of 44. With his bedroom as his office he starts as the exclusive European representative for the American company Singer Instrumentation. The name Simac is the result of the junction of two names: SInger and MAC, the first name of Van Schagen. To make clear where to position Simac, Van Schagen ads soon after starting his business, “Electronics” to the name.

Old School The bedroom soon appears not to be the perfect place to run a business. That’s why Van Schagen buys an old primary school in Steensel. It’s a ruin. But with a lot of dedication the ruin is redecorated and furnished with secondhand office furniture.
Broader range Soon Simac Electronics represented more foreign companies exclusively in Europe. Simac became a specialized supplier of professional test and measurement equipment for the industrial electronics market. Besides selling these products Simac also provided technical service and maintenance.
New building Simac grows that fast that the old school is not longer suitable. Van Schagen builds a new 850 square meter office in Veldhoven. In September 1976 the new office is ready.
IT market From the beginning the company follows the latest trends on the market. This requires fast adjustments to the continuously changing circumstances on the market. From the analogue to the digital era and from supplier of highly rated test and measurement equipment to system integrator on the IT market.
In 1986 Simac went to the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. There was also a new removal to the current headquarters at De Run 1101 in Veldhoven. And above all in 1986 Simac laid the foundation of the current organization structure. In the late eighties there were a lot of technical changes. And also as a result of several acquisitions Simac changed from supplier of test and measurement equipment in a supplier of complex computer networks.
On January 1st, 1989 Eric van Schagen, sun of Mac van Schagen, entered the board of directors. of Simac Techniek NV. On November 1st, 1991, at the 20th anniversary of Simac, Mac van Schagen resigned as Managing Director.
Year to date the one-man business from 1971 has grown to a large company, noted at at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. More than 700 employees work in several places of business throughout The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Simac-companies focus on the markets for industrial electronics & automation (IE&A) and information & communication technology (ICT).
