Simac installed new Cisco switches in Sappi’s Belgian production unit in Lanaken, with new network access layers and fibre-optic cabling to the different sites of the factory. This technology processes data at a higher speed, so that the administrative work now also goes faster.
The new local LAN network ensures a more stable IT infrastructure and production security. In the past production would come to a standstill up to four times a year. This had major financial consequences for Sappi. Thanks to the new redundant network these production stoppages are now a thing of the past.
Simac also renewed the cabling and the access layers in the paper producer’s head office in Brussels. All the sites now run with the same network technology from Cisco. Thanks to this standardization it is now much easier for Sappi’s IT team to maintain and manage the IT systems.
