K&S / Semitec

Simac and Kulicke & Soffa your partners in dicing

Kulicke & Soffa (K&S) / Semitec dicing blades worldwide
Kulicke & Soffa was founded in 1951 by Fred Kulicke and Albert Soffa. In 1996 Kulicke & Soffa acquired Semitec, a California-based supplier of a wide range of dicing blades for automatic dicing saws. Over the next five years, the dicing group continued to grow. After 2000, K&S made some early strategic plans to moves its blade manufacturing facility to China, a move that would reduce manufacturing costs and increase value for existing customers throughout North America, Europe and Asia. K&S dicing blades have replaced the Semitec brands but the rich blade history remains strong.

Use of dicing blades
Dicing blades are used with dicing and cutting saws to groove, cut and dice silicon, compound semiconductors, glass, ceramics, crystals and almost any other material. K&S offers a full range of dicing blades. Grit sizes, diamond concentrations, bond hardnesses and hub configurations are optimized to deliver maximum cut quality, throughput and blade life.

Why are Kulicke & Soffa and Simac partners?
In 2004 Simac and Kulicke & Soffa (former Semitec in 1990) became partners and for the first time Simac Masic provided dicing blades in Europe. The contacts between Kulicke and Soffa and Simac Masic were good from the start and the cooperation very promising. Today, K&S has been expanding in its blade technology and now is an industry-leading, worldwide supplier of dicing blades. Our dicing blade team is structured to help you, in every way, from improving yields to increasing your productivity and ultimately attaining higher profitability.
