Simac was founded in the Netherlands on 1 October 1971 by M.J. van Schagen. With his bedroom as his office he started as the exclusive European representation for the American company Singer Instrumentation. The name Simac is the result of the junction of two names: SInger and MAC, the first name of van Schagen. The company was introduced on the parallel market of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 1986 and became part of the official market in 1994. On January 1st, 1989 Eric van Schagen, son of Mac van Schagen, entered the board of directors of Simac Techniek NV.
