The early years
In 1981, Dirk Reubens and André Van der Auwera founded PHI DATA. In the early years, they focused primarily on the market for specialised (barcode) peripheral equipment and the associated services.
Shift in focus
In 1996, the focus shifted from product sales to a project-based approach. This led to PHI DATA evolving from a hardware distributor to a system integrator over the following decades. During this period, the ambition also grew to offer customised solutions and, later, packaged software developments.
Simac integrates PHI DATA into its offering
Technology company Simac acquired a majority of the shares in the Belgian ICT company PHI DATA. The company is added to the Simac Group but will continue to operate independently, delivering Smart Edge solutions to improve business processes. Through the acquisition, Simac sees its market share grow in Belgium and Luxembourg. Additionally, the market in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic is now open to PHI DATA’s advanced technology.
PHI DATA enters the Dutch market with Simac PHI DATA NL
Simac PHI DATA expands into the Netherlands. In close collaboration with its parent company Simac, it establishes its own Dutch organisation, Simac PHI DATA. The new entity is led by sector specialist Akko van Wijk.
PHI DATA becomes Simac PHI DATA
After acquiring a majority of the shares, PHI DATA is now fully integrated into the Simac Group as of 2024. With Olivier Billiau as the new CEO, a fresh wind is blowing through the company, with a focus on Smart Edge solution integration. Organic growth
For the future, Simac PHI DATA aims for organic growth by continuing to invest in its employees, proprietary SaaS software (Software as a Service), and new technologies such as IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things). On the other hand, they also target further geographic expansion through acquisitions or consolidation abroad to serve an even broader market.
