As a company, we are part of a bigger whole: of the world, of society and of our immediate surroundings. We are ‘only’ a link in the chain. At the same time, we are well aware that every small link is important. That’s why we take our responsibility very seriously. As part of our CSR policy, we support charities and initiatives we feel a connection with. We do this in three ways.
Each quarter, all Simac staff members can submit an initiative they are involved in. This could be a colleague who is going to climb a mountain to raise money for a charity; a Simac staff member who is a volunteer in a hospice that needs new furniture; or an employee who is a member of an association that wants to install solar panels. Each quarter we select ten projects that are given financial support.
To stay in the picture with a large audience, we sponsor a number of large clubs and events. For example, we are the main sponsor of the 2020 Cyclo-Cross European Championships and the bicycle road race ‘Omloop der Kempen’; we sponsor bigger and smaller soccer and hockey clubs, both at a national and local level. In addition, we support various cultural activities in the field of music and a number of museums. Nature and landscape conservation are also an element of our sponsoring activities. Again, we look where we can make an impact, with the additional objective of making sure that the Simac name is seen.
Sports and Culture Budget
The regions where we are located are often buzzing with associations and activities. Our employees are members and volunteers of sports clubs, participate in and attend all kinds of events. If they feel good, we as a company also benefit. That is why we set a fixed Sports and Culture Budget each year, which we use to support local and regional initiatives. These range from local sports clubs and amateur dramatics to museums and cultural events.
